Rum Pie strain review, a hybrid strain from Curio Wellness, is a cross between Chemdog, I-95, and Mandarin Cookies.
As a retiree, medicinal and recreational cannabis user, I have loads of time on my hands. I decided to go on a good old fashioned adventure. I got a joint and hit the open road for an hour or three.
This mindset triggering great memories, inspired me to stop at a dispensary and treat myself to a sativa pre-roll and just relive that time for a bit.
Growing up, weed was very illegal in every aspect of the word. The ages between drivers license and your own place had limited options to hang out and be you with your friends. The drivers license was the ticket to that freedom. Some of the best times were getting in the car with friends and just driving aimlessly. I almost forgot how great those days were.
I took off as if I was with my high school buddy’s again. “Ass-Up”
(there was a safety feature in my old car that would not allow the car to start if the passenger didn’t have a seat belt on -lifting your ass would trick the car long enough to start it).
One of us would have the latest or a favorite cassette tape. We would pop that dude in the player, turn it up and jam the ride.
The passenger was co-pilot/navigator, in charge of the music, lighting the cigarettes, rolling the joint, packing the bowl and was occasionally the steering assist.
Rolling or packing always involved cleaning out the stems and seeds -the mom of one of our crew once accused him a hole in his Tshirt that could have “only been made from a pot seed!”.
I put on Zepplin, -Over the Hills and Far Away kicked on first -it was fuking uncanny.
One of the most memorable road trips centers on this song playing on our way home from Spring Break in the mountains.
-The memories hit, driving down a long road, bowl packed and ready. Co pilot patiently waiting for it to be clear and then hand off.
My knee presses against the steering wheel leaving both hands free. -no cars behind, the ones in front are far enough away- “put a squeeze on the breeze man!” all the windows go up long enough to light the bowl.
Taking a small hit, leaving as much green as you could, then hand off the bowl and lighter to the co pilot. We listened to great music, made great plans and had bigger ideas than anyone in the world.
A dime bag could stretch between four of us for a day. –“I got Fiiive on it …”
Rum Pie from Curio was the strain. Opening the tube had this amazing smell. I’m imagining as if i was with my high school buds again. How we all would be super crazy excited over this one! And then thinking wow. Damn. Wow, if only 19 year old us could see mid 50s us. -Wow what a shock -legal weed! Holy shit I’m blessed to live long enough to experience this.
I reminisced long enough that without realizing it I was close to the VA state line! Then there it was … The most epic T-Rex ever! Top 5 easily- maybe even top 3 in the whole country! Ive passed this place many times but this time I stopped. In an instant my thoughts were, “should you? -theirs no one behind you, if you break a little hard you can make the turn without looking stupid -do it! and I did!”
I’m in the parking lot of this amazing antique novelty type store that could arguably be considered an attraction. I roll in the parking lot and realize the place is closed. Thats even better-Fukin PERFECT!
I park, open the tube with the pre-roll Rum Pie and light that dude up. The dominant taste of the terpenes, myrcene and pinene a sort of sweet desertish citrus chem like- whatever it was fukin great!
I walked around giggling looking in awe with the happy bouncing you would expect from an 8 year old at a theme park. It was a great day, a fukin great ass day!
I get back in the car and continue toward VA -my thoughts running back to that winding mountain road. Spring Break of our senior year. Were driving down the winding mountain road, exhausted from a week of free camping, excessive drinking and some pot smoking. Its quiet in the car.
Zepplin, Houses of the Holy in the player -Over the Hills and Far Away is playing as we drive down the mountain. 2 of the four of us are sleeping in the back when the hook hits …
Jimmy wakes from a dead sleep in the back into full on air drums- and we all start laughing and break into song:
